The serious stuff....

Let’s talk serious stuff... I know I know.... boring.... but REEALLY important for us both.

ONLINE ORDERS

Online cake cancellations and refunds.

Online orders are non-refundable. However, of course I know that things happen, so I am happy to reschedule your order (subject to availability) to a date within 12 months of the original date your order was sue for collection of delivery. Please contact me to request a date change. No charge will be made for this change.

Online order changes.

Your online order can be upsized either in size or complexity of design up to 10 days before your collection/delivery. I will issue an invoice for the difference in price, plus a $20 admin fee. No refund can be offered if you choose to downsize your order. I suggest having the original order and just enjoying your cake. Cake is yummy... and also freezes well if needed.

CUSTOM CAKES

The nature of the caking business is that by the time I issue the invoice for your custom cake, I have already spent time researching, planning, designing and communicating with you about your beautiful creation. Making a cake starts waaaaaay before you open the oven. I may already have ordered special or extra equipment/ingredients/supplies for your order and non-edible decorations are often made long in advance so could already be in production. It’s also likely I have held a place on the Big Cake Calendar for you, at the expense of another order.

I will be as flexible as possible, because I know ‘life happens’ but for these reasons, the following applies.

Custom cake cancellation

If you cancel your custom cake order after payment but more than 14 days before collection/delivery, I will issue a 50% refund on the total price, minus a $20 admin fee. No refund will be issued if you cancel your order less than 14 days before collection/delivery.

Changes to custom cakes

Changes can be made to the flavour and/or design of your custom cake up to 14 days before your event date. If you choose to increase the size or complexity of your order, I will provide a new quote, and issue a separate invoice for the cost difference, plus a $20 admin fee.

No refund will be issued for a downsized order. I suggest having the original order and just enjoying your cake. Cake is yummy... and also freezes well if needed.

REFUNDS AFTER COLLECTION/DELIVERY - ONLINE AND CUSTOM CAKES

I want your cake to be perfect, and I work long and hard to ensure that your cake is beautiful, tasty and also structurally sound.

- Collections. If you are collecting your cake from the Cakery, please read my Cake Collection Guide before you arrive. I will provide advice on travelling with and storing your cake. I can take no responsibility for your cake once it leaves the Cakery. You are responsible for ensuring the cake is kept on a flat surface, is not moved around too much, tilted or shaken, is kept below 23c and out of the sun, and that you drive carefully at all times when you have cake in the car.

If storing the cake overnight, you will need to ensure it is kept cool, dry and secure. I highly recommend collecting your cake on the day of event if at all possible.

No refunds will be issued for damage to the cake that happen whilst the cake is in your care.

- Failure to collect your cake. When you order your cake online, or when you order a custom cake directly with me, you will be asked to select a collection time. It is very important that you arrive at the agreed time to collect your cake. Failure to do so could result in my not being available to hand over your cake. If you cannot arrive at the agreed time, please contact me by phone on 0224748945 as soon as possible. If you do not inform me by phone of your change of plans at least 1 hour before the agreed collection time, I cannot guarantee I will be at the Cakery. If I have to leave before you arrive, your collection will be available the following day (subject to availability Thurs-Sat). No refund will be issued if you fail to collect your cake but have not communicated with me at least 1 hour beforehand.

- Deliveries. If I am delivering your cake, I take responsibility for it arriving at your house/venue in perfect condition. Should anything happen enroute to make the cake inedible I will refund you the full cost, minus delivery. Should major damage occur that causes a noticeable and irrevocable change to the outside of the cake, but your cake remains fully edible and presentable, I will refund you 40% of the original cost, minus delivery. No refund will be offered for minor damage that does not materially affect the overall look of your cake or make it inedible.

Once you are in possession of your cake, I can take no responsibility for your cake, and no refund will be offered if the cake is damaged after I leave your house/venue.

- Failure to take delivery of your cake. I deliver every cake by hand, which means timing is determined by how many deliveries I have each day and where they are. Deliveries take place between 2pm and 5pm Weds- Sat (Thurs-Sat for Custom cakes). I will give you a 1 hour time slot 24 hours before delivery. Please ensure you are home to take delivery of your cake. I cannot leave cake unattended outside your address if you are not home. If no-one answers the door when I arrive, I will attempt to contact you by phone . If I cannot contact you, your cake will go back to the Cakery with me and will be available for collection the following day (subject to availability Thurs-Sat). No refund will be issued if you are not home at the agreed time when I deliver your cake.

SENDING CAKE AS A SURPRISE GIFT

If you choose to have cake delivered as a surprise, you must still ensure someone will be home to take delivery. I cannot leave cake unattended outside an address. If no-one is available to accpet the delivery, the cake will return to the Cakery with me and be available for collection or delivery (at standard rates and subject to availability) the following day (Thurs-Sat).

ADDITIONS TO YOUR CAKE MADE BY YOU

Any additions or changes, made by you after you receive your cake are made at your own risk and discretion. I can take no responsibility for the impact of any additions or changes to your cake after collection/delivery. This includes but is not limited to, adding fresh flowers, artificial flowers, candles, cake toppers not supplied by me, toys, or other food items prepared outside of the Let’s Eat Cake Wellington kitchen.

ARTISTIC LICENSE

Cakes are works of art. No two are ever identical. Neither will your cake be exactly the same as any inspiration images we discuss or the image on the online shop. For custom cakes, I will provide a written description of your cake by email before your order is confirmed. These details will also be on your invoice. Please ensure you are happy with the design before you make payment for your cake. It is your responsibility to check any details to ensure you are happy to proceed.

I will make every effort to provide the exact design we have agreed, however subject to circumstances beyond my control, sometimes changes will need to be made. Any major changes that could affect the overall design of your cake will be communicated to you before your event. Minor changes are made at my discretion.

On very rare occasions, last-minute creative changes may need to be made for the sake of stability, structural integrity or other emergencies. This is integral to the successful delivery of your cake, and no refund will be made in these circumstances.

 ALLERGIES AND ALLERGENS

I believe no-one should miss out on cake, so I aim to bake cakes to suit all sorts of different dietary requirements. HOWEVER, I bake in a kitchen where many of the major allergens are used. This includes but is not limited to: dairy, soya, nuts, gluten, peanuts, sulphites and eggs. I do everything in my power to ensure no cross-contamination can occur, however I cannot guarantee a fully allergen-free environment. The manufacture of pre-prepared ingredients is also beyond my control and although I check packaging regularly, I cannot be held responsible for changes that impact your cake or issues that occur at the manufacturer’s production site.

*It is your responsibility to notify your guests of this*

USE OF THE TERMS GLUTEN FREE/DAIRY FREE/VEGAN

I use the terms gluten free, dairy free, and vegan to describe some of my products because it is the most easily recognisable way to signal that these items are made with no ingredients that contain those allergens or suit those dietary preferences. HOWEVER please note the advice in the previous paragraph. I cannot guarantee that your cake is 100% gluten free or 100% free from dairy, or 100% vegan. If you have any concerns or queries, please contact me before ordering.
